The Lake Champlain Committee (LCC) PDF Print E-mail

LakeC-sunsetPano2-nsh-web-srgb

The Lake Champlain Committee (LCC) is a non-profit citizens' organization working to protect Lake Champlain's health and accessibility since 1963. LCC uses science-based advocacy, education and collaborative action to protect water quality, safeguard natural habitats, and foster stewardship. We take a whole-lake approach to issues that affect this natural treasure, which boasts nearly 600 miles of shoreline in New York, Vermont and Quebec.

No matter how you choose to enjoy Lake Champlain, we invite you to explore our web site to learn more about the lake's health, current ecologic challenges, and ways to access its resources, including the Lake Champlain Paddlers' Trail. As you explore, we hope you'll consider how you can personally make a positive impact on the quality of its water and ecosystem.

Vermont Vernacular Designs has some special qualities we hope you'll consider as you choose a designer/builder for your project. Clients call us "knowledgeable," "responsive", and "hardworking." We call clients "friends."

History is our guide and Vermont our inspiration. Our respect for the architectural vocabulary of Vermont is apparent in the form, scale, proportion, and detail of our projects – the hallmarks of good traditional design. Step inside a home built or renovated by VVD and you'll find an interior that honors its classic roots while meeting the needs of modern living. We continue the marriage of beauty and practicality that motivated the best of Vermont's 18th and 19th Century builders. And we do all of this while employing current construction practices and the latest energy efficiency technologies.

We are passionate about building and we enjoy every aspect. Our mission is to leave a legacy of the highest quality, sustainable, and energy efficient homes, and through this legacy, do our part to elevate the standards of fine building. We focus on residential construction, and also enjoy small commercial projects.

We have been in this industry for thirty years and have learned our craft from the ground up. We downsized several years ago to focus solely on construction management, because we believe we can best serve our clients by freeing ourselves from the day to day management of employees and crew, and to better align our priorities with building owners. Our first commitment is to our clients - we guarantee to deliver best practices and lowest cost through effective team building, contract negotiations and administration, clear and understandable accounting, and absolute insistence on building to and exceeding project specifications and client expectations.

"Cherry Republic was started 22 years ago with a t-shirt sold from the trunk of my car. A few years later, after selling thousands of those t-shirts, I started selling cherry products with that same t-shirt design on the label of bags of Dried Cherries and Cherry Boomchunka Cookies. We now sell over 174 different cherry products. We have three stores, a large catalog and internet business, and we sell our products to 450 other stores in the midwest." (from CherryReblic.com)

"The dried cherries are awesome! They are the first thing I grab when I am hungry. I find myself flipping through the catalogue and turning over the corner of most of the pages to mark items I want to buy." - Carolyn L. Bates

Sandra Vitzthum Architect PDF Print E-mail

Traditional and Ecological Architecture.
Website: sandravitzthum.com

"The best buildings spring from their surroundings, both natural and cultural, and from the people who will occupy them. These buildings nurture the relationship between a particular people and place. My passion, and the purpose of my work, is to create harmonious buildings and to make the act of dwelling--both publicly and privately--more meaningful.

For me, traditional proportions, details, and crafts create this harmony among structure, inhabitants, and land. There is a tangible joy in shaping a local, living material with our own hands; this joy is rediscovered by later users of the space."

Tim Copeland, Copeland Furniture PDF Print E-mail

Frank Lloyd Wright Exclusive Furniture Maker
Owners Tim and Jenny Copeland

Website: www.copelandfurniture.com

Copeland Furniture has been producing wood products and furniture since 1976. We have gradually grown over the years from a one man shop to the largest employer in our small town of Bradford, Vermont with over 100 workers producing high quality furniture.

We are surrounded by beauty. The architectural gems that line the streets in Vermont’s well preserved villages inform our aesthetic and sense of proportion. The natural landscape surrounds us with beauty in the form of farmland and mountains, and is also the source of a renewable resource - solid hardwood - from which we build beautiful furniture for your home.

We know that our environment is, in many ways, very fragile. We are the beneficiaries of the strong stewardship ethic practiced and passed down by those who went before us. We hope that the next generation appreciates our stewardship and is inspired to continue the tradition.
We hope that you can see that respect for the landscape in the furniture we build for your home – timeless designs and timeless quality.

In 2006 we were honored that the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation of Scottsdale, Arizona selected Copeland Furniture to be the exclusive builder of the furniture designs of Frank Lloyd Wright, America’s preeminent architect. You can see Frank Lloyd Wright’s furniture designs on our website and in a separate catalog.

We remain a family owned and operated business committed to manufacturing high quality products in America.
